新唐人是全球唯一敢讲真话的华人电视台

【人民报消息】(大纪元记者韦实纽约报导) 欧洲电信卫星公司Eutelsat即将停止向中国转播新唐人电视台节目。来自意、法、英、德、爱尔兰、荷兰、比利时、西班牙等国的62位欧盟 (European Union)联署签名致信Eutelsat公司总裁Giuliano BERRETTA,高度评价新唐人电视频道的工作并希望今后能不受阻碍的继续通过Eutelsat公司的W5卫星与新唐人的观众讲话。新唐人电视台目前在全球征集支持签名,并将在停播前送交白宫寻求支持,同时在欧洲进行法律诉讼。

欧洲议会议员写给Eutelsat公司总裁Giuliano BERRETTA先生的信中写道,“十分关注Eutelsat公司对于新唐人电视台继续通过贵公司W5 号卫星传送信号的立场。Eutelsat 不顾中国政府及其代理机构的各种压力,继续播出新唐人的信号,是肯定联合国和欧洲各类公约所保证的权力:“自由表达,寻求,和接受信息,无论其来源和疆界。”

这些公约和协定,包括对Eutelsat公司有约束力的欧洲跨国界电视播出协议和欧洲卫星通信机构的政府间协议,都是公认的保护信息社会和言论自由的公约。

我们高度评价新唐人电视频道的工作,他们提供了一个独立平台,把全球华人联系在一起。在向华人报导国际和地区性事件,多方辩论,以及中国事务方面 ,新唐人在众多电视频道中独树一帜,播出未受过滤的信息。

2004 年,关注媒体权力世界主要机构,包括记者无疆界再次把中国评为违反媒体自由最严重的国家之一。很多资料表明,中国政府对通过互联网和卫星向中国公民自由传送信息的公司施加强大的政治和商业压力。这种第三方的干涉不仅威胁新唐人信号和其他不受审查的卫星频道的传送,而且违背了平等和自由竞争的原则。我们知道,新唐人完全符合法国的播出许可标准,迄今没有任何针对该频道的有效抗议。Eutelsat 公司这位客户的信誉也很好。我们了解,您本人也是强力支持Eutelsat 公司频道的多元化。 因此,我们相信,Eutelsat 公司会尽快与新唐人续签长期合约,而不是在下周取消他们的播出。”

在信末尾,议员们提到曾经通过新唐人电视频道向华人观众送去中国传统新年的祝福。由于新唐人和Eutelsat 公司的合作,欧洲这些民主选举产生的代表和中国观众的历史性第一次直接沟通得以实现。并希望今后能不受阻碍的继续通过Eutelsat公司的W5卫星与新唐人的观众讲话。Eutelsat 公司保持对欧洲基本价值观和协议的共同承诺。

新唐人总裁李综表示,新唐人是一个总部在美国的电视台,倡导民主、自由、独立的原则。西方的电视公司在西方的卫星上播出还要屈服中共政府的新闻审查,是置西方的基本原则不顾。这次一个欧洲公司完全违背他们自己的章程,其实是来源于生意上的问题。去年12月,Eutelsat 和中国信息产业部所属的中国卫通集团签署合作条约。这次中国卫通集团对 Eutelsat 和法国政府施加了巨大的压力,由于北京的从中作梗,Eutelsat 承受不住压力,才决定停止与新唐人续约。我们还有证据,中国许愿奥运会期间中国上空的卫星合约给Eutelsat,只要他们撤下新唐人,这是他们透露的消息,因为他们以前在中国任何生意都没有。据法新社说,可能还给了其他好处。

华尔街日报欧洲版三月十七日以新唐人电视台风波为题发表社论文章,批评该法国卫星公司停止向亚洲地区播送新唐人电视台讯号的做法,指出一贯标榜自己是捍卫言论自由Eutelsat 卫星公司,此种做法是采用双重标准,其真正原因是向中共施加的压力低头。

北京在这件事情背后起的作用人人心知肚明。

社论中还谈到,新唐人电视台成立于2001年,是一家非盈利机构,也是唯一一家不受官方控制、又能在中国大陆播放节目的电视台。他们的新闻、娱乐节目和文化节目都不经过中国 政府的审查,在全世界涵盖2亿中国观众,其中包括5千万中国大陆的观众。

社论文章在分析其背后深刻原因时指出:中国官方对意识形态的控制一直就没有放松过,他们不允许有不同的意见的媒体自由发出声音。因为“中国是一个独裁统治的国家,一旦资讯自由流通,对中共会构成严重的威胁”。
